AZT Expert Days 2005: Power supply risks - risks for providers and consumers

.Power supply risks – risks for providers and consumers.
AZT expert days, 14. –15.th November 2005, Ismaning

After several blackouts in Europe and the US, insurance companies are more and more faced with the question to which extent as well the German power grid might be affected in case of a blackout. Damage and loss potentials can be tremendous . Swiss Re estimates the total damage amount of the US blackout in 2003 to some 6, 6 billion USD, of which only a minor part was actually subject of insurance coverage. For the next future due to various factors such as an increasing demand in electricity, ageing power systems and permanent system enlargements more and more blackouts are going to be expected as well for Europe and Germany. Allianz estimations are expecting a significant increase in property and business interruption claims both in terms of loss frequency and loss amounts.

Topics to be covered on AZT´s 2005 expert days will be actual concepts and trends in the field of energy politics and future risk trends in power supply. New trends in conventional and renewable energies, such as biomass, wind energy or conventional coal fired power plant technologies with high efficiencies will be further topics of discussions.

The conference will be held in German
